My name is Segogwane Pheko, I live alone in Rasesa. However, I have a daughter who lives in Molepolole. I am a polio survivor which left me with a physical disability. I use crutches and a leg brace. I am a tailor and also sell sweets and airtime to make a living. I used the profits from my tailoring business to build the home that I live in.
I learnt tailoring at Tlamelong rehabilitation center in Tlokweng in 1989. I was employed for 4 years by a tailoring firm called Image in broadhurst. I later quit my job due to my disability. I found it difficult to get to work using public transport and that is when I started my dress making business. I once participated in a disability awareness drama produced by Reetsanang called “disability is not inability” which showed that persons with disabilities have capabilities despite their disabilities.
